Northern White Cedar (Thuja Occidentalis)
Common names
Eastern Arborvitae
American Arborvitae
Northern White Cedar
Habitat:
A common evergreen tree of both
hardwood and swamp forests. They tend to prefer sandy loamy soils but will grow well in any soil with proper care. A popular ornamental tree
often grown as a "fence" or used as a "wind row".
Characteristics:
The Northern White Cedar is an excellent tree choice for using as a hedge row and to improve
the landscape of your property. It adapts well to being transplanted, and once adjusted to its new
location, it grows 12-14 inches per year in height. It also fills out well to give your property
privacy. We use quality Cedar trees harvested in Northern New York State near the Canadian
border, where Cedars thrive in abundance in the cool mountain air.
If you have deer in your neighborhood, during February and March, you will need to protect your cedar trees with fencing or
deer repellant. Cedars can be received by mail order or through our installation service.

Colorado Blue Spruce trees typically reach a height of 30'-60' and spread out 10'-20'. Their silvery-blue needles are prickly to the touch and aromatic. The pyramidal shape of Colorado blue spruce trees makes them a classic choice for Christmas.
Colorado blue spruce trees don't need to be pruned, but they can be pruned if you wish to promote denser foliage.
Colorado blue spruce trees make excellent windbreaks and are particularly valuable in deer country, as their prickly texture and strong aroma render them conveniently deer-resistant.
In the snowy North, where landscapes can look barren in winter, evergreens such as Colorado blue spruce trees can provide much-needed winter interest. Speaking of winter, a growing trend is to buy them live (in containers) for indoor Christmas decorating, then plant them outside as landscape plants after the holiday. Dig the hole in the ground for planting well before December, so you won't have to dig through frozen dirt. Bring the excavated dirt inside, to keep it from freezing; you'll need to keep it loose so that you'll have workable dirt with which to fill in around the new specimen after planting it in its hole.

The red pine is a pine native to northeastern North America, occurring from Newfoundland west to southeast Manitoba, and south to northern Illinois and Pennsylvania, with a small outlying population in the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia.
It is an evergreen tree characterized by tall, straight growth in a variety of habitats. It usually ranges from 20-35 m in height and 1 m in trunk diameter, but can exceed that in optimal conditions, exceptionally reaching 43 m tall (Gymnosperm Database). The crown is conical in young trees, becoming a narrow rounded dome with age. The bark is thick and gray-brown at the base of the tree, but thin, flaky and bright orange-red in the upper crown; the tree's name derives from this distinctive character. Some red color may be seen in the fissures of the bark. Red Pine is self pruning; there tend not to be dead branches on the trees, and older trees may have very long lengths of branchless trunk below the canopy.
